How Our In-House Lab Helps Sick Pets Get Answers Faster

Why Veterinary Diagnostics Matter

When your pet isn’t feeling well, it can be scary and frustrating because they can’t tell us what hurts or how they feel. At Swan Harbor Pet Urgent Care, veterinary diagnostics help us fill in those missing pieces so we can get your pet the care they need as quickly as possible.

A Bengal cat with striking stripes sits alert on a vet's table. A masked veterinarian, in blue scrubs, examines it in a clinical setting.

While we learn a lot from physical exams and watching your pet’s behavior, many illnesses can look very similar on the surface. Different diseases, including contagious or internal conditions, often cause the same symptoms, such as lethargy, vomiting, or loss of appetite. That makes it difficult to know exactly what’s going on without diagnostic testing.

Even though symptoms may look alike, treatments can be very different. Giving the wrong treatment can slow recovery or even make a pet feel worse. That’s why diagnostics are such an important part of safe, effective veterinary care. They allow us to move past guesswork and focus on what’s actually happening inside your pet’s body.

With our in-house laboratory testing, we can take a closer look at your pet’s bloodwork, organ function, and overall health. This helps us identify the cause of illness and start the right treatment right away.

We know waiting days for answers can be stressful — especially when your pet is uncomfortable. That’s why Swan Harbor Pet Urgent Care is equipped with a full in-house diagnostic lab and digital X-ray system. In many cases, we can test, diagnose, and begin treatment all in a single visit.

What We Can Test On-Site

  • Bloodwork (Chemistry & CBC)

  • Urinalysis

  • Parvo and respiratory panels

  • Heartworm and tick-borne disease testing

  • Pancreatitis screening

  • X-rays

Why It Matters

Fast answers mean faster treatment and a quicker return to tail wags, head boops, and feeling like themselves again. That’s why veterinary diagnostics matter, and why we make them a priority at Swan Harbor Pet Urgent Care.
