Easter Pet Safety: What to Watch Out For

Easter is full of fun traditions—but some of them can be dangerous for pets.

Before your dog raids an Easter basket or your cat bats around decorations, here’s what to keep in mind.

🍫 Easter Hazards for Pets

Chocolate bunny and eggs tied with twine on a textured surface. Surrounding chocolate bits and creamy dessert cup add to the festive mood.

  • Chocolate – Toxic and potentially life-threatening

  • Xylitol (found in sugar-free candy) – Can cause rapid drops in blood sugar

  • Easter grass (plastic) – Can cause intestinal blockages

  • Cooked bones – Splinter and cause internal injuries

🌸 Don’t Forget the Flowers

—especially dangerous for cats.

🐰 Pro Tip

Keep baskets, candy, and decorations out of reach. Pets are curious—and surprisingly resourceful.
